Introduction

Human Nutrition and Dietetics is a branch of applied health sciences that deals with efficient planning and modification of diet for promotion of health, prevention and cure of disease both at individual and population levels. Malnutrition is a major public health problem in Pakistan; its current dimensions are largely determined by past underdevelopment and discrimination. Poverty and malnutrition combine with disease, both chronic and infectious and results in death, disability, stunted mental and physical growth. Hence, effective strategies and intervention programs are required for improvement and sustainability in the nutritional status and general wellness of the masses. It is therefore, imperative to produce professionals that can significantly contribute in uplifting the national nutritional status, launch and strengthen ongoing nutrition intervention programs, enhance public awareness, and reinforce the global efforts regarding health promotion and disease prevention through nutrition.
